MISSOURI — There’s great news for Missourians who need help paying their utility bills.
Benefits for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance and Energy Crisis Intervention programs have doubled.
That means recipients could get financial assistance of 306 dollars to 990 dollars depending on how their homes are heated. They also don’t need a utility shut-off notice before being eligible for emergency help.
The Missouri Department of Social Services made the changes. North East Community Action Corporation is one agency that helps the needy, and says the additional money will make a big difference for a lot of people dealing with rising energy costs.
