BOWLING GREEN, Mo.– The Bobcats look to topple the Hallsville Indians in the Missouri Class Two District Seven championship for the second consecutive year.
Bowling Green and Hallsville had a memorable game in the district championship last season in which the Bobcats won 42-30. Both teams had headed into the contest 10-0 on the season looking to advance to the quarterfinals. Bowling Green would fall in the next round against Lafayette County 52-32 to end their season with a record of 11-1.
Bowling Green has one of the best offenses in the state throughout the season. The Bobcats have outscored their opponents 705-77, scoring over nine times more than their opponents. The defense for Bowling Green has been outstanding as well. The most points they have allowed this season is 14 in a contest.
Hallsville is not a team to sleep on though. They were able to take down the mighty Centralia Panthers, a team they had previously lost 26-20 to, in week two of the season.
Bobcats head coach Joe Chinn had a few things to say about the big rematch against the Hallsville Indians.
“I know it’s going to be chilly on Friday, but I really hope we have another huge crowd, this is something that Bowling Green has not been able to host in a long time,”
The Bobcat coaching staff is aware of what to expect out of a tough Hallsville team this Friday.
“I think Hallsville’s going to be extra motivated to win, as we beat them at their home field last season. I believe that they want to do the same to us. I think they’re a physical team and they are resilient, we got up a couple of scores on them last year and they fought back and made the game more intense than it already was. I’m expecting kind of the same from them this year. They are a very athletic team. Hallsville has a quarterback that is athletic, and I think we’ll see him playing against us. The backup for the Indians has been doing a great job as well as he led them to the district championship game”.
If the Bobcats win against the Indians, they will either face the Lafayette County Huskers or the Richmond Spartans. Good luck to the Bobcats football team as they look for back-to-back district titles.
