ELSBERRY, Mo.– The Bowling Green Bobcats face the Elsberry Indians in a much-anticipated matchup between two favorites to win the EMO Conference title this season.
The Bobcats defeated the Indians last season, 3-2, which gave Bowling Green a much-needed win on their quest for their eventual EMO Conference title. Bowling Green has been off to a hot start this season, as they have won two of their first three games of the season while allowing less than three runs per game in both of those winning contests. Elsberry has been off to a slow start this season, as the Indians started off 0-3 on the first weekend of the regular season. The Indians finally got their first win with an 11-0 victory over the Palmyra Panthers, but then dropped their next game against the Winfield Warriors, 13-3.
Bowling Green has already secured their first EMO Conference win of the season. They defeated the Louisiana Bulldogs, 9-0, in Louisiana behind a spectacular performance on the mound from senior Alex Miller. Miller tossed seven scoreless innings against the Bulldogs, while only walking one batter and being close to double-digit strikeouts. Elsberry lost their last game against the Warriors, which brings the Indians’ record to 1-4.
The Bobcats are 2-1 on the season, as they score an average of seven runs per game, while they allow seven runs per game as well. The Indians score a measly four runs per game, while they allow eight runs per game to their opponents. Bowling Green will have a fresh set of arms for the game against the Indians, while Elsberry will look deep into their pitching rotation for an arm, as they face Wright City and Hannibal before Bowling Green comes to town.
Be sure to come out and support the Bobcats, as they continue their quest for their second consecutive EMO Conference title.
