SILEX, Mo. — Sara Grateke, senior, at Silex High School has signed on with Missouri Valley College and will be joining their basketball team in the fall of 2023. While playing for the Lady Owls she has earned 1st Team All District the last 3 years, EMO All Conference Team the last 2 years and has also been named to the All Tournament Teams in the Clopton and Bowling Green Tournaments.
“Sara led us in scoring over the past two seasons,” said Lady Owls Head Coach Robert James. “Her leadership on and off the court had a great impact on the continued success of our program. Silex has a tradition of excellence, Sara contributed to that excellence and will be greatly missed and forever remembered.”
Grateke visited several colleges but said when visiting Missouri Valley she felt at home.
“When I went up there and we walked all around the campus with coaches, and it kinda felt like home,” said Grateke. “I really like the feeling in the gym, I’ve been there before, it was all very nice.”
She added what she’s most looking forward to she said playing basketball for another couple of years and the family dynamic.
Grateke plans to earn a degree in accounting. Sara is the daughter of Neal & Melinda Grateke.
