EAGLE NEWS — Homecoming week is vastly approaching as it is just a few short days away! This year the Louisiana Bulldogs will be facing the Van-Far Indians on Homecoming night. The week is filled with fun dress up days and events to get the whole entire community involved.
Students are eager to participate in this year’s homecoming dress up days. On Tuesday, students will dress up as Soccer Moms or BBQ Dads.
On Wednesday the theme is Barbie day. Students can dress up as Barbie, Ken, wear pink, or dress up as any other character from the franchise.
Thursday is the classic pajama day where students can wear flannel pants and slippers to school. Lastly, the week ends with Bulldog spirit day. Students will wear Bulldogs apparel, sports uniforms, or anything that is Bulldog colors. The spirit days are ensured to help keep the spirit alive throughout the week.
Not only is the week filled with fun dress up days, there are a few changes to the traditional week of events. The Homecoming parade, that is typically on the Friday of Homecoming, will now take place Thursday night. The parade will start at 6pm and start from Sunset Park to the school. The athletes from the schools, homecoming court, and class floats will all be in the parade. Each class will be continuing the tradition of making a class float. They will make them that day of the parade during school and then will be on display later that night.
Just like usual, there will be a competition for the best float. After the parade, there will be a bonfire that the whole community is invited to join. There will also be food trucks at this bonfire.
The school will have a community pep rally on Friday starting at 1pm in the high school gym. Just like last year, it is an opportunity for the community to join in on the week’s festivities by seeing the athletes and students from all three schools in the district. The high school cheerleaders will lead the parade to get the community pumped up for the game. KJFM radio will also be doing live coverage of this year’s pep rally.
The Louisiana FFA Barbeque will also be taking place this year at the Ag Shop. It takes place from 4-6pm. They have two different meal options this year. It is $7 for a pork burger meal or $10 for a pork steak meal. Both meals come with potato salad, green beans, dessert, and a drink. Pre Order tickets are already done but there will be a few meals available to purchase at the door. Pick-up and Dine-In options are available. Come out and support the local FFA chapter with their annual barbeque.
Kickoff for the game against Van-Far is at 7pm. Before the game, the senior football players, cheerleaders, band, and color guard members will be recognized. Join the Senior Night festivities starting at around 6:30. During halftime of the game there will also be the homecoming court and hall of fame induction. If the community also wants to be involved, show up to the game wearing Bulldog gear or Bulldog colors. Help cheer on your Bulldogs to a win.
The Homecoming dance/hangout will take place after the game in the high school commons. The game will cost $3 for each student to attend.
Only high school students are allowed to attend. The event will have food and be a safe place to hang out after the game.
The Student Council is working hard in preparing for the homecoming fun day, parade, and dance. They put in a lot of long hours whether that is preparing games, decorating, or making posters. The week is jam packed with lots of fun events to keep the students busy and the same goes for the community. Also do not forget to take a drive down Georgia Street Friday morning to see the hard work of students from the night before. The tradition of the night before homecoming TPing may continue.
