PIKE COUNTY, Mo. – A Louisiana man who fled a traffic stop earlier today has been captured and remains in custody.
James William “Bill” Lawrence, Jr., was arrested at around 4:30, just over two hours after fleeing from a traffic stop that was being conducted by the Missouri Highway Patrol.
The vehicle had been stopped in the area of Highway D and Highway N at about 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22. Lawrence has active warrants in Illinois for burglary and another in Kansas City.
Korte said an observant citizen called in a tip and Lawrence was captured by a member of the Missouri Department of Conservation. Also aiding in the search were members of the Pike County Sheriff’s Department and the Highway Patrol.
Lawrence was captured near the intersection of County Roads 229 and 233. He will likely be charged for fleeing authorities.
Another person in the vehicle travelling with Lawrence was taken into custody as a result of the traffic stop.
