PIKE COUNTY, Ill. — As of Friday, May 8, 2020, Pike County Health Department is reporting that the one lab confirmed positive case of COVID-19 in Pike County has recovered and has been released from isolation. Two additional residents are currently in quarantine for being in close contact with a positive case in another county. All others have been released from quarantine.
The following lab confirmed positive cases in surrounding counties are as follow:
- Brown – 6
- Cass – 52
- Adams – 41 positive, 2 deaths
- McDonough – 48 positive, 2 deaths
- Schuyler – 5
- Morgan – 28 positive, 1 death
- Sangamon – 253 positive, 19 deaths
Please be aware that the virus continues to lead to illness and death in thousands of people daily. Increased access to test assists public health officials in determining community spread. This information can be used in planning for recovery. Researchers are working diligently towards a vaccine and treatment, however at this time there is no cure.
Pike County Health Department would like to thank residents for doing their part to “flatten the curve” in Pike County. With continued support and cooperation with the “Stay at Home” order including social distancing, face coverings and hand washing; Pike County moves closer to Phase 3 of the Restore Illinois Plan.
