PIKE COUNTY, Ill. — Pike County Health Department was notified of five new cases of COVID-19 in Pike County, Ill.
- One male in his 30’s
- One female in her 30’s
- Two males in their 40’s
- One female in her 40’s
Close contacts are being identified and will be asked to quarantine for 14 from their last contact with the positive cases per CDC guidelines.
A total of 30 COVID-19 cases in Pike County residents have been reported to PCHD. Fifteen cases are active, one is hospitalized and 15 have recovered.
Ways to prevent the spread:
- Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds – especially after you have been in a public place or after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid close contact with those that are sick. Please stay home and away from others when you are not feeling well.
- Maintain social distancing recommendations of at least six feet. Remember that some people without symptoms may be able to spread the virus.
- Cover your nose and mouth with a cloth face covering when around others and unable to socially distance.
- Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue, then throw the tissue away and wash your hands.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily.
- Avoid social gatherings of more than 50 people per Illinois Recover plan.
