KJFM SPORTS — The Clopton Hawks snagged a late lead and defeated Canton 13-7 on Monday. The game was tied at six with the Hawks batting in the top of the sixth when James Matheny to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Tyler Jarrett led Clopton to victory by driving in six runs. Jarrett went 2-for-5 at the plate and drove in runs on a home run in the third, a fielder’s choice in the fifth, and a single in the sixth.
Canton captured the lead in the first inning when an error scored one run for the Tigers.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Canton tied things up at six when an error scored one run.
Jarrett led things off on the hill for Clopton. The righthander surrendered seven runs on nine hits over seven innings, striking out nine and walking one.
The Hawks tallied two home runs on the day. Jordan Jennewein had a four bagger in the first inning. Jarrett went deep in the third inning.
Clopton tallied ten hits on the day. Peter Daskalakis , Jennewein, and Jarrett each had multiple hits for the Hawks.
